The Primary Montessori Programs expose children to a variety of materials which form the foundation for language, mathematics, science and geography. Primary Language introduces children to works which encourage the development of receptive and expressive skills. Mathematics is designed to emphasize counting in whole numbers, measurements, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. These are presented in a concrete way so that the child understands through touching and visualizing the process of mathematics. Memorization of number facts easily follows. Geography and Science are also studied. The Practical Life area of the classroom teaches care of self, care of the environment, fine and gross motor coordination, expansion of concentration, independence and order. The sensorial area exercises the sense of touching, seeing, hearing, smelling and tasting.
